My New Toy *Happy Face*

Monday was the end of an era.  I said goodbye to iPhone and hello to Nokia (once more).  I haven't had a Nokia since the good old days of the 3310 and things have moved on somewhat since then.  I have been a die hard iPhone girl from day 1.  I completely got sucked into the apple world of hi 5's, camping outside for a new release (OK I never did that), Apple snobbery and insanely shit battery power.  It is due to the battery that I made the mahoosive decision to move away from my beloved iPhone 5 and on to the Nokia Lumia 1020.  I'm not going to lie, I continuously had second thoughts through the whole upgrade procedure but now after a few days of adjusting, I'm 100% positive I made the right choice.
OK so lets talk about the nitty gritty details about the Nokia 2010...na not really, I'm not a phone geek but I will tell you a bit about the camera, which is to be fair the main reason why I went with this phone.  Its a huge 41MP Carl Zeiss lens, which is already giving my DSLR (Nikon D7100) a run for it's money!  There are loads of cool effects and functions with the camera too, for all you DSLR users out there, it's as easy as using your own camera; ISO, White Balance, Focus, Exposure, shutter speed...they're all completely editable just like a DSLR!  The f number can go as low as 2.2 which isn't bad for a phone camera.  I haven't had time to sit down and play with it properly yet but I will post some shots to show you how it compares to my DSLR.  There's a range of special shots you can take with the smart-cam too; action shots, the perfect shot, remove unwanted objects, make a strobe effect to emphasize motion and much more!  I'll be talking more about the camera on the blog but if you want to check out all the specs then visit the Nokia website here.
The advice I would give any other bloggers or photography enthusiasts out there would be to seriously consider this phone, for the camera alone it's totally worth it!

Transition

Here I go again with the culottes, I told you it was an obsession!  I've got another pair to blog in the next week too so sorry for the culotte overload but they are a must-wear for next season :)  Culottes are also a good piece to wear for this transition period where you want to introduce next season's trends to your daily looks but don't want to freeze your ass off.  Obviously you will need to add skin coloured tights which I know some peeps aren't a fan of, but so long as you buy the non-granny ones and carry a spare pare (in case of ladderage!) you'll be set. These culottes are from River Island and come with the little chain belt (they also come in a shorter length if these don't tickle your fancy).  For those office workers these might be a nice alternative to pencil skirts for your spring/summer work wear wardrobe.

All Black

There's just something super chic about all black.  I always used to think that it was boring and takes no thought but if layered right with different pieces and even accessories I think it can give an all black outfit some depth.  I probably could have added some sort of silver or gunmetal statement necklace here but I didn't want to be too dressy today.

Mon Belle

First of all apologies for the lack of the promised video over the weekend.  I have edited it, but I can't find a suitable music to accompany it, so please bare with!  Secondly, who was to know that my boyfriend would be a total trend predictor?!  He bought me this faux leather jacket from H&M for Christmas (this was an 'off list' gift) in 2012; I have never worn it, in fact, I kind of disliked it (not totally unusual for his 'off list' gifts, bless him).  But like many trends, white leather is now having it's turn and I absolutely love this jacket!  I am glad I didn't eBay it after all!  What's more is that in this mild winter we're having, it's totally wearable, maybe throw on a scarf, hat, gloves etc if it gets super nippy :)  So it's a hooray for my boyfriend and hooray for white leather (or faux in this case).

Sheepskin

I've been waiting for the weather to turn super cold so I could wear this sheepskin coat.  It was my Grandmas and she passed away last May so I inherited this coat, and it's just the warmest thing everrrrrr!  It's like a giant UGG boot for your body.  I'm not sure what decade it's from but it's got such a 70's vibe, I feel like I should be in some old school detective programme!

Never A Dull Day

Happy Friday peeps!  Don't forget on Sunday my new YouTube video will be up so you can subscribe to my channel here.  Please do let me know what you think because it's a bit of a trial to see if this is the sort of thing you'll want to see from me on YouTube, I just can't do the talking videos, I'm no good at them!
Over the weekend I'll also be playing around with SS14 catwalk inspired Nail Art so I'll post tutorials and pictures of those next week!

The Best Scarf

Over the years I've collected so many scarves, and yet not one of them compares to the scarf of this season, the check Zara scarf!  I've seen them all over the streets of London and I'm not ashamed to join everyone in donning this warmth defender!  No pressure on Zara to create something equally as awesome for AW14!

Check This Out

It's time to inject some of those Spring/Summer trends into my current wardrobe so here we go.  I got this baby blue check jacket from River Island the other day and also this matching blue chunky knitted beanie.  Checks are very much an AW13 trend but moving forward to SS14, checks are staying but we're being introduced to pastels once more and gingham.  So in a nutshell I've combined the two seasons, which is perfect for doing in this random stage where the shops are filled with Spring/Summer clothes, but we're all still freezing our bollocks off!

Walking In Chains

Apologies if you're all suffering from 'pink-coat-overkill' right now but I'm still milking it!  I went off to Camden today to have a little meeting with the lovely gals from ASOS Fashion Finder to discuss a feature I'll be doing with them for London Fashion Week, so watch out for that coming up in February!  I also did a little filming today for a video I plan to upload to my YouTube channel on Sunday.  It's a bit of a trial and error as I'm not sure I've found my strong point in videos yet, but it's basically a Lookbook of the weeks outfits.  I'm hoping you'll enjoy it and at the same time that it won't make me cringe my way into oblivion!

Milestone

The start of another week, this year is already going too fast for my liking!  I would just like to say a quick thank you to all those who follow me on Instagram, I've just reached 4K followers which is a nice milestone for me.  Hello to the new followers/readers I've gained this week on the blog too.  Last week was a really successful week for me stats-wise so thanks to everyone for your support, comments, RT's and just general love!

Houndtooth In Chains

I'm sure you're all familiar with the new craze in shopping which are Chinese and Korean websites.  I'm a huge fan of them and have been for a couple of years but now websites like these are making it into magazines over here in the UK, so they're now not so much a Blogger secret but are becoming much more widespread.  In today's post I'm wearing a houndstooth double breasted wool coat sent to me from Persunmall.  The quality is brilliant and it's not thin like you may expect for the price.  It looks like something that has come from Zara...so right up my street!  I would urge you all to check out their site, especially their coats and jackets as they are incredible value for money.  Just be aware that because your purchases are coming from so far afield, the shipping time can vary from 7-25 days (to the UK).

Culotte Obsession

My new obsession is Culottes!  They're going to be huge for Spring/Summer this year as we've seen on the runway at Mulberry, House of Holland, Eudon Choi (all below) and a plenty more, not to mention some designers across the pond but as I'm British, I like to think we do it best (it being everything, lol!). I've also seen plenty of amazing styles from our fave high street brands at all the press days I've been to.  These ones are from Topshop and are a premium satin so they're pretty heavy and also quite thick so ideal for wearing now.  I've got some natural tights on to keep the old shins warm and teamed with a snuggly jumper; I'm so in love with this look!  I'm so obsessed with culottes that I've found a few patterns and I think I'm going to try and design and make a pair to wear to London Fashion Week, I'll keep you posted on the progress of this project as I haven't done any sewing in quite a while now!

Ashish SS14

Back in November I went to the Village PR SS14 Press day.  Now I'm not going to lie, there was one brand in particular that I wanted to see...Ashish!  As you all saw on the blog back in September, I was at the Ashish SS14 show at London Fashion Week (See my pictures from the show here) so I saw every jaw dropping, sequin emblazoned piece live!  But now we have a problem, it's become somewhat of an obsession of mine to get one of the sequin carrier bags from the collection.  I haven't yet found these online (I'm assuming they haven't been released yet) and I'm waiting with baited breathe to see the cost of them but they are just too good to miss out on after seeing and holding one in the 'flesh'.

Layer That Dress!

Before Crimbo I was sent this beauty of a dress by Lavish Alice from Bank Fashion but haven't had a chance to wear it yet.  It's a figure hugging pencil dress with long sleeves which looks very 'workwear-ish' when you see it alone, so I had a think about how I could turn it into EJ.Style and ta dahhhh, here we go!  Layers my friends, layers!  As it is a tad on the nippy side at the moment layers were the way to go when creating this look.  I used a denim shirt which I've had for yonks (Zara) and tied it at the waist, leaving it open to expose the gorgeous check print of the dress, with a leather jacket casually thrown on the shoulders.  I've added a clashing chunky statement necklace (Topshop), a pair of black heels ankle boots and my bag of the moment, the Zara mini city in grey.  I like this look so much that I'm thinking of recreating something similar with a pencil dress for Fashion Week in Feb, weather permitting obvs!

Off On A Road Trip

I'm off on a mini Blogger road trip!  Today I'm headed to the pretty land of Rochester in Kent to abuse all of it's historicness for some blog shoots, armed with a car full of clothes and possibly some Pringles (yay!).  I'm going to be introducing some Spring trends into my posts over the next week.  The sales are pretty much fizzling out in most stores and new season is taking prime position so I couldn't help but purchase a few pastel numbers!

Dorothy Perkins SS14 Lookbook

It wasn't so long ago that I posted about Arcadia's SS14 press day and one of my faves from that day was by far Dorothy Perkins.  A couple of weeks ago I received their Lookbook in the post and it's so well put together that I had to show you all!  The weather has gone cold and gloomy, it's dark all the time so I figure we need some pastels and sheer fabrics to cheer us all up!  Have a gander at the collections and start making your wish list for next season!

In High Spirits

Is anyone else a fan of backpacks?  I know it isn't just me!  Ever since the explosion of 'Sports Luxe' a couple of season's ago you can't help but notice the influx of running shoes (ala yesterday's post!) and backpacks amongst the London crowd.  I've taken a rather sporty jump onto this bandwagon.  Recently I've been introduced to a new London label 'High Spirit' who manufacture leather limited edition backpacks (rucksacks, whatever you want to call them).  These bags are no longer the status symbol of the EMO, but the must have piece of the Fash-Pack!  High Spirit's range include metallics, exotic skins and seriously on trend colours and even better...there's only a limited amount of each design made, so get in there fast!  The practical side is that they are also Theft-proof (Londoners rejoice!).  The zipper entry of the bag is on the back, so once it's on your back, there's no way of some one invading your bag, thumbs up!

Day 2 Day

I thought after all the 'pink-coat hype' that I'd get fed up of the bloody things, but I honestly just can't get enough of them!  You'll have seen this one before in some of my older posts but today I've teamed it with my new Nike Free 3 running shoes (not at all used for running I might add, but perhaps just for a rather slow 'amble' and some sitting down) and some of my latest sale purchases (last seen here).  OK so the running shoe is a tad AW12 but thankfully the trend has stuck around long enough to warrant me buying a few pairs in an attempt to look somewhat 'fit' *dubious face*.

New In Action

Time for the first outfit post of the year, and with the new do!  Unfortunately due to this utterly shite weather, today wouldn't permit me to go to a more 'exotic' location in London other than my rather shabby looking back garden *apologies* through fear of being swept away in a not-so Mary-Poppins fashion.  Today like an eager shopping beaver I'm sporting some of my new sale purchases.  You may recognise the blazer and bag from yesterdays post, but I also bought a few pairs of sale jeans from Bershka and Zara (seen here) which I didn't add in, after all, jeans are jeans y'know.

Sale Purchases

Sale time, hurrah!  I wouldn't say I'm a total hardcore sale shopper, (otherwise known as lunatics), I don't camp outside Selfridges the night before nor do I rise at 4am to get to a Next sale (that shit cray!).  Throughout the year I do get gifted an awful lots of products and obviously I buy my fair share too, so more often than not, the bits that have gone into sale, I already have, booooo!  That said there are some things that simply must be bought when you see them in the sale.  Some people might not agree, but over the years there have been very few sale-purchase-disasters (bar the metallic space-style jumpsuit of 09', let us forget!).  So here's a few snippets of my Sale purchases thus far, stores are now starting their further markdowns and the one to watch is Zara!  As I used to work for them I know how they operate their sales.  They have so much stock that by the time the 3rd of 4th markdowns come into play, there's still stock that's not even been out on the shop floor yet, so that's the stuff you'll get at truly bargainous prices!
Check out all my purchases below and also some of my top tips for shopping the sales :)
