Transition

Here I go again with the culottes, I told you it was an obsession!  I've got another pair to blog in the next week too so sorry for the culotte overload but they are a must-wear for next season :)  Culottes are also a good piece to wear for this transition period where you want to introduce next season's trends to your daily looks but don't want to freeze your ass off.  Obviously you will need to add skin coloured tights which I know some peeps aren't a fan of, but so long as you buy the non-granny ones and carry a spare pare (in case of ladderage!) you'll be set. These culottes are from River Island and come with the little chain belt (they also come in a shorter length if these don't tickle your fancy).  For those office workers these might be a nice alternative to pencil skirts for your spring/summer work wear wardrobe.

All Black

There's just something super chic about all black.  I always used to think that it was boring and takes no thought but if layered right with different pieces and even accessories I think it can give an all black outfit some depth.  I probably could have added some sort of silver or gunmetal statement necklace here but I didn't want to be too dressy today.

Milestone

The start of another week, this year is already going too fast for my liking!  I would just like to say a quick thank you to all those who follow me on Instagram, I've just reached 4K followers which is a nice milestone for me.  Hello to the new followers/readers I've gained this week on the blog too.  Last week was a really successful week for me stats-wise so thanks to everyone for your support, comments, RT's and just general love!

Houndtooth In Chains

I'm sure you're all familiar with the new craze in shopping which are Chinese and Korean websites.  I'm a huge fan of them and have been for a couple of years but now websites like these are making it into magazines over here in the UK, so they're now not so much a Blogger secret but are becoming much more widespread.  In today's post I'm wearing a houndstooth double breasted wool coat sent to me from Persunmall.  The quality is brilliant and it's not thin like you may expect for the price.  It looks like something that has come from Zara...so right up my street!  I would urge you all to check out their site, especially their coats and jackets as they are incredible value for money.  Just be aware that because your purchases are coming from so far afield, the shipping time can vary from 7-25 days (to the UK).

Layer That Dress!

Before Crimbo I was sent this beauty of a dress by Lavish Alice from Bank Fashion but haven't had a chance to wear it yet.  It's a figure hugging pencil dress with long sleeves which looks very 'workwear-ish' when you see it alone, so I had a think about how I could turn it into EJ.Style and ta dahhhh, here we go!  Layers my friends, layers!  As it is a tad on the nippy side at the moment layers were the way to go when creating this look.  I used a denim shirt which I've had for yonks (Zara) and tied it at the waist, leaving it open to expose the gorgeous check print of the dress, with a leather jacket casually thrown on the shoulders.  I've added a clashing chunky statement necklace (Topshop), a pair of black heels ankle boots and my bag of the moment, the Zara mini city in grey.  I like this look so much that I'm thinking of recreating something similar with a pencil dress for Fashion Week in Feb, weather permitting obvs!

ACNE Pre-Fall 2014 Collection

I'm now wishing I'd kept all the hair I had chopped off because apparently there are people that buy hair (for hair extensions, wigs etc) and short of selling my vital organs that's the only lucrative idea I can think of to raise enough funds to buy this Acne Pre-Fall cropped shearling jacket.  The jacket that dreams are made of!
Possibly one of the most wearable collections I've seen from Acne and certainly one that hits all of my soft spots, this collection sees earth tones layered through volume and textured pieces.  There's no fuss here, it's all very simple, from the silhouettes to the plainness of the fabrics (Shearling, neoprene, boiled wool).  Jonny's inspiration comes from spending time at his beach house just outside of Stolkholm during the fall.  He says 'The calmness of the cooling sea and the seasonal tints of forest are reflected in the layered silhouette and natural colour palette.'
For now I'll just gaze with awe at these images and await my own invitation from Jonny to his inspiring beach house, hmmmmmm *hopeful face*

Off On A Road Trip

I'm off on a mini Blogger road trip!  Today I'm headed to the pretty land of Rochester in Kent to abuse all of it's historicness for some blog shoots, armed with a car full of clothes and possibly some Pringles (yay!).  I'm going to be introducing some Spring trends into my posts over the next week.  The sales are pretty much fizzling out in most stores and new season is taking prime position so I couldn't help but purchase a few pastel numbers!
